This is the worst bank/credit union I have ever worked with on a car loan in my life! We recently purchased a vehicle with them, and a month has passed without receiving anything in the mail regarding our loan. There is no payment book, no letter with account or loan information, absolutely nothing. So I figured it just had not arrived yet. I tried to see if they had an app, and of course they do, so I tried to set it up. However, I couldn't do that because you have to have a member number, and we don't have a member number because we received nothing from this establishment.
So I call and get a member number, but guess what? That doesn't work either! They call me to let me know the app has not been approved for me to use and they are going to set it up for me. All I'll have to do now is log in with their temporary password... but no, that doesn't work; it says the system is unavailable. And of course, at 1 in the afternoon, their offices are all closed for a staff meeting for the rest of the day. Seriously!
I feel like reporting their awful business to the Better Business Bureau. Never again will I work with this excuse for a credit union! I will be refinancing my vehicle with a bank that is actually run correctly!

Horrible customer service on the loan side of things. Have my vehicle loan through them they didn’t inform of us of some paperwork that wasn’t right on the dealership side of things then I get hit with a CPI insurance charge just because my insurance didn’t show them as a lien holder which I have never had to do ever with any other vehicle I’ve owned. Then to found out the insurance they put on the vehicle is 7 insurance.. guess who owns that company y12 and ornl. So they are making money any way they can’t by screwing the customers. So beware before you try to use them for loans.

I have been with y12 for about 2 1/2 years and financing a truck through them and I have a excellent credit and make good money so I applied for a credit card through them and was denied for not making enough money. Apparently you have to make over 50 K a year before they will consider approving you. I have a couple other cards with lot higher credit limit than they offered. So if you thinking about applying for thier credit card. Make sure you make lot of money and don't owe anything what so ever.. y 12 disappointed me after being with them for almost 3 years and never missed a payment.

Y12 federal credit union is the best bank to get a loan from. They have worked with me as much as they can while the hard times continue in the recession. Very understanding. I will never get a car loan through anyone else

Banking with them since 1994. Good and professional. The staff is very nice and helpful. They work with you on matters. They have a lot of customers. Very nice branch and it's very clean. Parking lot clean as well. Bank managers or very respectful and professional.

We have been with Y12 FCU for over 8 years. In the past, it was a wonderful credit union but something has changed. I use to be able to call my local branch and speak with someone by name to request a personal loan, car refinance, etc and get an answer usually within 2 hours. Now we have to call the loan department and speak to someone who takes your application and runs it through underwriting and now takes a couple of days to get an answer. The last refinance we requested required tax returns and we were turned down because of a paper loss on the tax return. We have had several loans over the past years and have never missed a payment. So we call ORNL and they gave us approval on a refinance in a matter of 2 hours. It's not the credit union we know anymore, it's more like a bank. We are switching credit unions. Y12 - THE CHANGES YOU MADE HAVE BEEN VERY BAD FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS. SIGNED: DISAPPOINTED.

If you want to be treated poorly this is the place to go Had marginal credit over 10 years ago now have over 790 fico and $20,000 in deposits but they wont let me have remote deposit or fi transfer because I was not good enough 10 years ago. I have never bounced a check All my credit cards are signature visa. My car loan is else where at 2.7% because I felt I would waste my time at Y-12. The only reason I use them is its close to job.

Y-12 is a wonderful bank! I started out with two auto loans moved to a checking and savings with him and now have refinance my home through them they are awesome to deal with!

If you think that Y-12 is a good bank, you should go to another bank and you will be amazed at the technology that exists to make your banking experience more pleasurable. Y-12's whole online banking system is like a bad early 2000's website that is hard to manage. Get a car loan? Good luck ever paying it off, the fees add up and it's nearly impossible to pay off early. No one knows what the hell they are doing. I do not recommend.

I bank at the West Knoxville Branch of Y-12, I have to say I just love this place. Everyone there is just so nice, courteous and even know me by name. I think that is awesome! I visited Y-12 today and as I was approaching the building, Katrina held open the door for a very elderly person that had trouble walking. That act of kindness and caring really touched me. I've been around the block several times and know for the most part when people do things because they have to or because they want to. Katrina did this because she has a heart for her customers and always greets me with a smile if she waits on me. She is very genuine as well as everyone else at the West Knoxville Branch. Y-12's catch phrase is: Y go anywhere else? Trust me, I won't! Keep up the good work! Steve H./ Y-12 member for life

Y-12 is a great place to do business. My experience with them stems from the time I spent in the auto industry as a salesman. Y-12 Federal Credit Union provides their customers with very competitive rates on loans. The loans tend to be more flexible, and determined more by people rather than stats and computer driven decisions. Interest rates on car loans are at an all time low, with institutions like Y-12 leading the way. Many customers come in pre-approved which makes the sales & buying process a more pleasurable and much simpler process for both parties. Most dealerships will agree to the sale and give you a buyers order to take back to the bank, and allow you to bring a check. Great dealerships can complete that same paperwork for you and save another trip back to the dealership. Y-12 is a local bank that cares!
